Hi JDSFishfly,

Thanks for the reply! We appreciate it. What you describe sounds similar to the Always On function. Check out this link to see if this might work for you: Use the Always On feature with your Apple Watch

"Always On is turned on by default on Apple Watch Series 5 and Series 6. In this mode, the time is always visible, along with your watch face or the most recent active app.

To preserve battery life, the display dims when your wrist is down, or by a quick gesture of covering the display with your hand. A wrist raise or tap on the screen brings everything back to full brightness and makes the watch screen active so you can interact with your watch."

"Manage Always On settings

Always On has settings that let you turn the feature off, which can increase battery life. You can also hide sensitive complications.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch. To do this, press the Digital Crown to see the Home screen, then tap the Settings icon .
  2. Tap Display & Brightness.
  3. Tap Always On to turn the feature on or off. You can also select Hide Sensitive Complications if you want information such as calendar events, messages, and heart rate to remain hidden when your wrist is down."

Best wishes.

Hello JDSFishfly,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. As we understand it, you may have a question about the font you see on your Apple Watch face. Is that right? We'll be happy to see what we can offer for assistance.

It may depend on exactly what's happening on your device, but this could be normal, depending on the Watch face you're using. This link shows more about Apple Watch faces and their features. For example, the faces below sound like they might match what you're describing:

"Numerals

This watch face displays the time with analog hands over a large hour marker. You can choose from seven different typefaces and countless colors for the perfect combination.

"

"Numerals Duo

This watch face displays large numbers in an Apple-designed font made specifically for Apple Watch.

"

We hope this answers your question. Have a good day.

The font size referenced in example 1of your response is correct, but the time is given similar to examp[le 2.

To further explain, the dispay occurs when the watch has been inactive/with a dark screen/scene. When the watch is touched, it displays an oversized graphic of the current time (similar to example 2). Can that opening screen/scene be changed to match the prefferred face setting, used during normal watch operations?

Thanks for your help,

JDSFishfly
