I am interested in an iPad Pro. It is advertised to be as fast and powerful as a PC. There is a considerable amount of software that is still shipped via CD. Does the iPad utilize an Apple CD Drive (using a USB to USB-C adaptor)? If not, is this a future enhancement?

iOS/iPadOS does not support optical media devices - and therefore cannot directly read optical media.
However, as App software can only be downloaded and installed from the Apple App Store, the perceived impediment is of no consequence in context of installing compatible software.

That makes a lot of sense, did not think about apps could only be downloaded from the App Store, boy, is my face red. Thanks greatly for setting me straight. I will definitely rethink my assessment. iPad Pro sounds very viable now. Thanks again for the answers.
