Hi I brought a iPad from someone and I reset the iPad but theres an activation lock and I can’t get the the persons email and password for the activation lock. So what I do?

I I reset it and and there is an activation lock on it I tried to get in contact with the person but no response. So what I can I do about it? Everything I’ve read tells me there’s nothing I can do as the find my iPhone is obviously on... Is this really the case I spent 200 on this and now the guy will not return my phone calls or reply to my emails. Can I take it into Apple? This is ridiculous, why would Apple make it this with no back door entrance for these circumstances I understand it’s an anti theft response. There has to be something???

Here are the Apple support pages that outline the Activation Lock - and the only mechanisms by which it can be turned off:

Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Turn off Activation Lock – Apple Support

As you will discover, unless you are the owner of the AppleID that was last used to activate the device, or unless you can secure the cooperation of the previous owner, you’ll not be able to defeat or bypass the Activation Lock. Without documentary evidence that you are the original owner (such as sales receipt showing the serial number), Apple won’t assist - and nobody here will be able to help you.
