I bought Apple Care for my iPhone XR years back and I just got a new iPhone 12 does the apple care transfer over to the new phone. Right now my phone has the limited warranty but I wanna get the apple care like the one I have on my iPhone XR

AppleCare plus is specific to the device. You will need to purchase the AppleCare plan for your new device (within 60 days of purchasing the device).
Do I have to cancel the apple care on the XR so I can buy it on the new phone because it’s not letting me buy apple care on the new phone an I just got the phone on November
