Should your MacBook identify as 13-inch Mid-2010 model (last of early 2006-2010 series)

there is more to know; except that it may be able to run High Sierra 10.13.6, conditionally.

MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010)

Model Identifier: MacBook7,1

Part Numbers: MC516xx/A

Newest compatible operating system: macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Tech Specs: MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010)

There was no iBook after 2005; "MacBook" replaced older PowerBook models and iBookG4.

As these identifier names went on, through various incarnate changes, name was re-used.

• How to Identify your MacBook model - Apple Support (shows very recent + early models)

Some online sources go into details; your job is to locate those to match your hardware.

• Lookup Mac Specs - by serial number, order, model & EMC number, model ID @ everymac

(do not post serial numbers in ASC)

https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/

Information under "About this Mac" found beneath the Apple icon in far left menu bar

should show details, and then even more; in section by name "System Information."

• MacBook (13-inch Mid 2010)

..if you have one, may look like..

Introduced May 2010

Discontinued July 2011

Model Identifier MacBook7,1

Model Number A1342

EMC 2395

Order Number MC516LL/A

(from mactracker.ca -free- database app download)

IF yours is MacBook/Air or MacBook/Pro, that's different.

Good luck & happy computing!
