Yes it applies. Actually, this method will take a screenshot of anything that is displayed on your screen at the time of taking the screenshot.

Thanks does this also apply to a text message without a photo?
When I push the buttons to do a screen shot it opens up giving me 3 options, to shut down or medical ID or SOS. For some reason this does not work on my phone, thanks for help and your time.
Do you mean save the Picture of a text message in the Photos app?
On your iPhone bring up the text message(s) in view that you can take a screenshot of. Then press the VOLUME UP & SIDE BUTTON simultaneously and you will have taken a screenshot. Press Done and it will save to your photos.
