IPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen & Magic Keyboard

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen. After looking online and speaking to someone at Apple in person (without my iPad present) I thought it would fit the large Magic Keyboard, but the size of the keyboard is significantly smaller than the iPad. I’m confused. I double checked the keyboard and it says that it fits 12.9 — does my iPad need to have been a 3rd or 4th gen iPad Pro?

This page indicates the Magic Keyboard is compatible with the 3rd and 4th generation iPad Pro 12.9”.

Since the 2nd generation is omitted, it’s reasonable to conclude it is not compatible.
