GarageBand 10 is only available from the AppStore, and the App Store is only offering it for the most recent system versions. we have to try to get the software when it is released, while our system version is still the most recent version. Once our system is no longer current, it may be too late. The Apple downloads site does no longer offer software updates, for software that has been moved to the AppStore. We can however sometimes reinstall older versions from the AppStore, if we previously purchased them.

Did you previously purchase the iLife version of GarageBand, GarageBand '11 or the newer GarageBand 10? Then you can try to reinstall it from the Purchases tab of the App Store. Open the App Store, go to the Purchases tab (the fourth tab) and check the list of previously installed applications, that are associated with your AppleID. If GarageBand is in the list and you are seeing a download arrow, try to download it.
