Lost mail account

Hi, I deleted an exchange mail-account from my husbands iPhone SE (2020) that no longer exists. What I didn't know, was that it also deleted (almost) all of my contacts with it. Is there a way to restore? I can no longer connect to the exchange account, so I am looking for a restore option. Thanks in advance for your help!
