Issues owning two phones?

Hi, I have an iPhone XS and I’m considering buying a second iPhone for personal use and using the XS as a purely work phone.

I’ll have some of the same apps on both phones but don’t want to ‘connect’ them - the idea is to leave work behind at the end of the day.

My question is, how should i set up the new phone? Would I have to create a new Apple ID? Any other issues I might run into?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

iPhone XS, iOS 14

Thanks! Would you recommend using a new Apple ID or using the same one on both phones? In other words, what is the data that would/wouldn’t sync?

To explain how I plan to keep the phones separate... There are some apps I wouldn’t install on my personal phone (for instance LinkedIn and Google Drive) and I’ll also be using a different phone number so WhatsApp etc would presumably not be the same on both phones. I also have a personal email address so I would only add this to my email client and not my work email. I will use 1Password on both phones. I don’t mind if things like photos and music sync on both devices, but would prefer if the contact lists were different.

Hop that makes sense. I’m afraid I don’t understand Apple ID very well.

A separate Apple ID will keep them separate but should you ever wish to combine something you would have to resort to family Sharing with yourself.

What is Family Sharing? - https://support.apple.com/HT201060 - "Family Sharing lets you and up to five other family members [Apple IDs] share access"

Set up Family Sharing - https://support.apple.com/HT201088

If you don't want the data to sync together, you need a new ID. You can pick the ID you want to use on the new phone. The existing ID or a new ID. If you want 2 separate phones, there shouldn't be any other problems.

Apple ID - create a new.

Apple ID – Create

Apple ID - Could Not Create or Could Not Set Up iCloud message.
