Can I upgrade the SSD in my M1 based MacBook Pro after purchase?

NO you can not, if you have not purchased a new M1 MacBook Pro yet, I would suggest that you get as much SSD installed at time of purchase which is currently 2TB. I have also found that it helps in the future resell of a MacBook. I would also suggest you do the same for the memory. Just my opinion.
