NYCMaman,
You're very welcome. Let's see if we can figure out what is prohibiting his FaceTime.
If you are managing his settings on his iPad directly, this article is a very valuable resource:
Set up Screen Time for a family member on iPad - Apple Support
First, note that he will need to have Contacts enabled in iCloud, and you (and anyone else with whom you want him to be able to communicate on his iPad) will need to have your contact saved in Contacts. If contacts are not enabled, or if you're not in his Contacts list, you won't be able to communicate with him via FaceTime or iMessage if you have limits set in Screen Time.
These details may also help us help you determine where the restriction is in his Screen Time settings:
- Downtime: Do you have a Downtime schedule set? If so, what is the schedule?
- App Limits: Are there any apps, categories, or websites selected in App Limits? If so, which ones? Tap the arrow in each category to reveal the specific apps in the category. For example, if you have Social selected here, you may need to go into the submenu and make sure you don't have FaceTime blocked.
- Communication Limits: Make sure that your contact is saved in his Contacts and you have communication set to Contacts Only.
- Always Allowed: Check Contacts > Specific Contacts and add yourself (and anyone else) to always allow communication, then ensure you have FaceTime added to the Allowed Apps section.
- Content & Privacy Restrictions: There are a few different sections to look at here. First, in Allowed Apps, make sure FaceTime is enabled.
Hopefully these suggestions will help.
Good luck!
