USB IPHONE CABLE PROBLEM

I've been a iPhone user and apple customer for long time. The first iPhone had the best USB cable, and I still use that one today. These new cables our HORRIBLE. Please post if you have this problem. The cable comes apart from the connector or usb plug in on both ends of the item. Its very annoying when you got use tape it up to hold it on. I would think apple would of fixed this problem by now. the 3GS had this problem and same thing for the iphone 4. the iphone 4 is worst only had cables for 5 days before it separated from the connector. I think apple should send new cables to everyone and fix problem. again please post if you have the same problem want hear feed back and see if its just me.

You have to take the USB connector and iPhone to Apple's Genius Bar. They may give you a free replacement, as long as they do not point to section B.II on the warranty that states:
http://images.apple.com/legal/applecare/docs/AppleCarePrem_Svc_Supp_NAen.pdf
ii. Damage to the Covered Equipment caused by accident, abuse, neglect, misuse (including faulty installation, repair, or maintenance by anyone other than Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider), unauthorized modification, extreme environment (including extreme temperature or humidity), extreme physical or electrical stress or interference, fluctuation or surges of electrical power, lightning, static electricity, fire, acts of God or other external causes;

If you grabbed the USB cable other than by the connector ends by tugging on the cord, this may not be covered.

We have four iPhone 4s and all of the cables are fine. Out of 3 million or so sold why is it rational to assume that if one is defective they all are??

I know numerous people with iPhones that all exhibit the same telltale defect in the USB cable. It gradually starts to separate at the junction of the wire insulation and the base of the iphone plug end.

Mine is separated about 2 mm's now and you can see bare wire. I treat my gear with the utmost care, however i could tell from right after I purchased it about 8 months ago that it was a weak design.

I never post to these discussions and I know most of my friends can't be bothered usually either, so in this case I finally thought I would speak up. I will try calling Apple to get another one, but I'd rather have a part that is designed so it won't crap out again. Too bad Apple doesn't read these forums.

That's utter cat pee!!! I have never pulled on The cable to unplug it!!! Personnally I think it's down to the length of the cable. Cos they are sooo short the stress applied to the bend at the phone end when u are using ur brick whilst it's being charged, is immense-an therefore splits. Apple needs to be so cheap and produce a decent length cable.

Answer this why does Nokia never have issuses with their charge leads (I been using the same charge lead for past three years!!!)

Nonsense. I've used many of these cables for the last 5 years (the same as iPod cables) and NONE have frayed or broken - all of them are still in use!!

Why are you placing "stress" the phone connected to the sync cable. Can't you tell you're putting excessive tension on the cable?

There is no reason to even be using the phone when connected. The cables are for syncing and charging only and there is no reason to be handling the phone during those activities.

If you have no solution than stay the f out. No one cares for your arrogance, some of us actually use our cables. We connect them to our car, we carry them in our pockets, briefcases, etc... They get damaged very easily from normal use that any other similar cable could stand. I know this because I have been a techy and audiophile my entire life. I know a lot about cables. These have two huge failure points. I don't see what you are defending, everyone knows the cables are crap.
