Iphone Not Showing Up on iTunes

I've followed the directions on connecting my iPhone 8+ and my phone still isn't showing in iTunes. I have the current updated IOS on both the phone and MacBook Pro. I've tried different ports and USB cables. My phone shows up on the device tree system information. What can I do? Please help as this is very frustrating. Thanks for any feedback that you're able to provide me with.

For iOS 14 you need iTunes 12.8.2.3 or better running on OS X 10.11.6 or better. See How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support if required.

Assuming a suitable version of iTunes is in place then in Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources

Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.

So....Silly me, what was happening, at least what I think was happening, was after updating my MacBook to a new IOS, I never went into FINDER and "trusted" the computer again. I figured it would automatically "trust" my computer. After many frustrating moments of really trying to figure out why it wasn't working for me, I came across an article or question that led me into another rabbit hole which led me to an article on "FINDER." Low and behold, my phone was there under "LOCATIONS" and I clicked on it. It prompted me to "TRUST" this computer which led me to unlock my phone and trust the computer. Anyway, thanks for your feedback, but it was my user error that was the simplest solution.
