Then try - If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support.

In order to remove it you will need the Apple ID & password.

I do not know the password. When I put in the Apple ID, I get a message that says this iCloud account is inactive. But, I still keep getting a message to sign in to iCloud under that same Apple ID
