Netflx no longer working right with AppleTV

we watch movies on a Samsung television via AppleTV

Previously, we have watched Netflix movies but now any Netflix movie will start, run normally for awhile, and then quit with the error message "A problem occurred while playing this item...... Code:-11800."


After spending hours with Netflix support and my internet provider support (Spectrum), the problem continues. Everyone is stumped. Please note the following peculiar items, which may be clues:


-- The movies start normally and run awhile. This suggests to me that the connections are working.

-- I have not seen any problems with other streaming services. We watched a full-y

-- I am not aware of other wifi related problems with devices

--Working with Netflix and Spectrum, I have: (1) pulled the plug on the Samsung and AppleTV for =5 minutes; (2) tried a different Netflix profile; (3) had Spectrum reboot modem and router, with restoration of factory defaults for the router (which should have cleared up DNS problems)

-- I can watch a Netflix movie on my iPad without problems, which does not involve Apple TV, suggesting that the problem is related the Apple TV or its connection with the Samsung television, which has always worked previously

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're running into issues streaming only Netflix on your Apple TV device. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app? If not, those are good places to start.

i spent perhaps 10 hours in discussions with support reps from Netflix, Spectrum, and Apple. All but one of the many discussions were very good, but with no solution. Yes, I re-installed Netflix, had the default settings restored by rebooting the router, and updated Apple TV. I even tried using a public set of DNS settings. Nothing worked. At that point I began to have more general home-network problems. The dropped network could be restored, but the Spectrum rep (and I) now suspected a faulty router. I swapped the router out late today and will test results with Apple TV and Netflix tomorrow. We will see.
