Hello. I received my new iphone 4 yesterday and successfully transferred my contacts and email account. The problem is, today I have been getting duplicate emails - 2 of every email - they are both identical in size and content. Any solution would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean duplicates on the phone itself? This usually means a problem with your email server, which isn't marking the server copy are 'read' after you download it. But diagnosing further requires knowing more about your account. In particular, why type is it?

    MS Exchange

If it is any of the last 3 have you set it to Push?

Under "Account Info" it says POP account information. I'm using comcast mail. My mail is set to "Push." And yes I'm getting 2 of every email pushed to my iphone itself.

Well first don't set it to Push, because Comcast can't push. Only MS Exchange, Yahoo and gmail can push. Set it either to a time interval or Manual. In manual it will only get mail when you open the mail app.

This may not solve your problem, but it is a first step.

I appreciate it. I set it to a time interval I'll see if it makes a difference and let you know.

If you still have the problem post back and there are other things you can check.

Okay so I just received my email and it said I have 4 in my inbox. I go to my inbox and there are actually 2. I read both and instead of (4) it now says (2).

So it is just the count that is wrong, you don't see duplicate messages? That's unusual. What I would do is delete the email account, reboot the phone (hold HOME and SLEEP until an Apple logo appears, ignoring the "Slide to power off" message), then add the account back.

I have this problem also. It appears to be related to the message threading feature that was added in iOS4. The duplicate messages show up on the new message count, but can't be seen or deleted. If I kill the mail app and restart it or turn off threading, then the duplicate messages will appear and can be viewed and deleted. The duplication doesn't always happen and I haven't figured out what action triggers the problem.

I can confirm the same problem on my iTouch after upgrading to iOs4. POP mail account, push option now off, - still have double as many emails announced (e.g. 4 new). When I open the mailbox I see sometimes 2 sometimes 4. What is curious is that after reading the first of two new, suddenly 4 are shown (and of the duplicates one is complete, the other says that "This message has not been downloaded" in the message body section).

I just started having this issue. I'm using a @mac account. Everytime I send an email - the reply comes back twice.
