TM backup of my 2tb iMac to an external disk

It looks like the TM does hourly, daily, weekly and monthly back ups and keeps all folders until the disk is full, then deletes the earliest folders to make room.

The computer is for personal use and I have other folders on that external disk too so I want to allocate the minimum advisable space for the backups folders. What is the shortest range of dates I can keep those files and still effect a recovery? Could I restore from just one week of backup data? Thank you.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

It’s not a good idea to use the same external disk for TimeMachine backups and other storage. Buy a new external disk to store some folders and files on it, and include this external disk in your TM backups
