OS 11.1 - denied permission for using printer, but I am administrator... any help?!

I recently upgraded to MacBook Air (Chip: Apple M1), and also upgraded to a wireless printer (Canon TS3100 series). However, when I go to open the printer from the dock, I receive this finder dialogue box: "You do not have permission to open the application “Canon TS3100 series.app”. Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance."

However, I am the administrator on this computer (and only account). It seems I can still send a document to the printer, but I can't open any of its attributes (Eg, the scanner, or check ink levels, or choose quality of print, etC)

I'm less concerned about opening the printer application and more concerned as to why it does not think I am the administrator: any help?

ant27 I would try contacting contact Canon to make sure the above problem isn't on their part. If that doesn't solve the issue, I would then contact Apple Support to get help from Apple about this issue with the Canon TS3100 series printer to see what they can tell you to do or try.
