Add recognised voice without apple id on HomePod
I’d like my son to be able to use the Hey Siri function on my new HomePod mini, but it seems as I can only add someone with an Apple ID and as a 6 year old he doesn’t have one!

Not only would he need an Apple ID, but also an iOS device from which to accept and invitation to share access to the Home and configure recognize my voice. See Use multiuser on HomePod - Apple Support. See Family Sharing - Apple for details of how you could create an Apple ID for your son, however I would suggest it isn't necessary unless you also want him to have an independent Apple Music library which he could then access through your HomePod, or want to give him the ability to control secure HomeKit accessories.
