Activity notifications uses my wifes name to infirm mr of progress - why and how do I change this

Try this;

On the phone,tap on the phone app, then tap on contacts and tap on YOUR contact name,tap on top right hand corner to edit the name.

Are you sharing an apple id?,or is the phone account in your wife's name?.

You both use the same username and password to login to your phones.
