Cannot mount external hard drive after upgrading to Big Sur

Anyone able to find a work around for mounting external hard drives in the latest version of Big Sur? Drive will mount without issue on another Mac running Catalina.

I was having a similar problem, where--when i plugged in my external hard drive--it would start up, but the drive would now show in finder. If i went to Disc Utility, it would show as greyed out. I could not mount or run first aid successfully.

I downloaded https://www.cleverfiles.com/ DiskDrill and the drive showed up there. I clicked the drive and "Search for lost data", it did a scan which took a couple hours, but afterwards, the drive showed up. Now when i restart, the drive would be gone again and i would have to repeat the process, but this worked for at least getting the data off the drive, so i can reformat it and hopefully use it again. This is without having to pay for anything with the software, this just gets it so it shows up in you Finder, and i can then drag and drop the data to a new HD.

Thanks for your response. Yes, it shows up in Disk Utility. Very odd. Last night, I tried to mount it multiple times. It would not show up in Finder. Could not mount it in Disk Utility either. I never received any kind of error message. Drive is encrypted, and it would prompt me for my password. After entering the password, clicking OK, nothing would happen. Rebooted a couple of times. No go. Tried again a few minutes ago, now it works without issue. Strange things in Big Sur. For now, it seems to be resolved. Evidently, you need to let Big Sur cook overnight after you upgrade. :)
