This is just an irritating issue, rather than a problem. If I set the size of a chart to -say - 25cm by 6cm, after a while Numbers changes it to something like 24.72 by 5.69 (not the exact figures by the way). Is there anyway of locking my original dimensions?

Locking the table (Select table, check the dimensions, adjust if necessary, then go Arrange > Lock) might do it.
Haven't cheked this, though.

Many thanks - that seems to work, and locking a chart doesn't prevent changes to the underlying data from taking effect.
