photos grayed out

some of my photos in library are replaced with gray triangle and exclamation point.

That normally means photos can't find the original files.


Do you use iCloud? If you do, have you selected "optimise mac storage" ?

Where is your library stored? If on an external drive, it needs to be formatted as described in the link below.

Do you have "import items to the photo library" checked in preferences?
