Logic pro 10.6.1 not loading Reason (11) rack Plugin (hardware exception error)

Reason 11 has Rack Plugin that is easily started on logic Pro x 10.6. Both Logic and Reason 11 work fine in my new Mac Mini M1(running big Sur 11.1). But, surprisingly, Logic cannot load Reason Rack Plugin. It gives the following message: " Hardware exception. Reason just recovered from a hardware exception. You can continue running, but we recommed that you save all open songs and restart the application."

Surprisingly, Reason Rack Plugin is successfullly validated in the Logic Plug-in Manager.

I don't know what to do... it should be simple, straightforward... But it is not! Hope someone can give some ideas! Thanks in advance.

With some fiddling I was able to get it to work as well. What I had to do was first successfully open the RRP at least once while Logic itself was running under Rosetta, and then I could revert back. It now opens and mostly works, albeit not entirely stable. Opening the settings window, for example, still generates an exception error although it doesn't crash the whole plugin. Still early days yet, but more and more developers are releasing M1 native plugins. Fabfilter, Valhalla and AberrantDSP are already there and U-he should be posting betas of their M1 plugins very soon.

I experience the same error when trying to load the Reason Rack Plugin in Logic Pro (all updated and current as of Jan'21). Reason itself runs fine and the RRP actually loads without issue as an AudioUnit and VST3 in Ableton Live, so there must be some kind of persistent compatibility issue between LP and RRP right now. It's still early days though and Reason Studios is in the process of completely overhauling Reason itself to accommodate a high resolution, GPU accelerated interface and rack, so good times ahead. There are just still some issues to be ironed out. Reason handled the migration from PowerPC to Intel back in 2006 quite seamlessly, so I feel pretty confident it'll happen this year. For the audio community in particular, new platform transitions will take some time due to all of the hundreds of plugin and DAW developers that need to update their software.

I was able to fix it myself by trying many options. It turns out that (at least for me), Reason Rack Plug-in does not work in Logic Pro X 10.6 if Logic is set to open with Rosetta. Interstingly, Apple published an article saying the opposite, i.e. that "Open with Rosetta" needs to be selected so that RRP works properly. In my case, it works well when it is unselected (see below), otherwise, it fails.

@Gabe Tompkins, same with me (exception error opening the RRP setting window). But today I updated Reason to the latest version (11.3.8d1) and started Logic with Rosetta. Now RRP is completely stable. Apparently the problem was sorted out in the new version. Settings now do not show the exception error anymore).

Hope it sorts out for you too.

Rosetta is a translation feature in macOS that transparently allows programs originally written for Intel processors to run on the new M1 (Apple Silicon) Macs. Logic is a universal app, so it can run in both modes, and in some cases this can be helpful because if Logic is running as an Intel app, 3rd party plugins don't need to be individually translated, which can sometimes lead to better performance and greater reliability. All you need to do is open the Applications folder on your Mac, select the Logic Pro icon, go to menu File > Get Info, and select the checkbox "Open using Rosetta". In the future when developers update all of their plugins, this shouldn't an issue, but it can be helpful right now in some cases.
