I have a Late 2013 iMac, will this upgrade work?

Will I have any problems updating my OS from High Sierra to Big Sur.

no, you cannot upgrade to big sur. that machine, however, can be upgraded to macOS Catalina 10.15. that macOS should still be supported for the near future.

Yes, as you would need a 2014 or later iMac to upgrade to macOS Big Sur.
