I ran First Aid for Macintosh HD using Disk Utility but it said failed. I tried Erase and it said failed to unmount. What should I do next. I was trying to reinstall Catalina for my MacBook Pro. Can anyone give me some suggestions? I am stuck !

Please help!

I'm trying to reinstall Catalina and I used Cmd+R and Disk Utility. I ran First Aid for Macintosh HD and it failed. I ran Erase and it failed.

What should I do next?

I'm stuck! Please help. Many thanks!

Either your hard drive is failing, or if you have a last Time Machine backup of Catalina, then boot into Recovery (⌘+R), and choose Restore from Time Machine Backup. This will wipe the startup drive, and repave it with a bootable Catalina, applications, settings, and your home directory content. If you don't have a Time Machine backup, or booting into Recovery, and requesting it to reinstall macOS Catalina does not work, then you are probably done.
