iphone 8+ keypad

I'm trying to use my keypad to input a 4-digit code and it puts a hyphen after the 3rd digit. How do I change keypad to recognize 4-digit input without adding a hypen? Thanks.

Hello hac66,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We’d like to help with your iPhone and want to learn more about where the hyphen is appearing.

Is this happening when you are trying to enter a passcode for your iPhone? Or is this happening in a particular app or website?

Take care!

Thanks for replying. I tried to find my original question to explain that issue self corrected. I had rebooted the phone and it was still occurring. Later in the day or next day I tried again and code input was back to ok. The problem was on the iPhone dial pad for making calls. I'd type in, say 8922, and numbers would come up as 892-2. Haven't had a reason since to use for inputting a code, so am hoping it holds and was just a short term glitch.
