Apple Thunderbolt Display with 2020 MacBook Air

Working fine for me too. Same kit, same success.

Only issue I have now is the USB SuperDrive which won't work via the Thunderbolt display as the current is too low.

I've run out of USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 slots once the Thunderbolt display and a power source is connected.

I've tried using a hub but the SuperDrive needs to be directly connected to the notebook via the OEM Apple USB-C - USB A adapter.

I now have to disconnect the display to write a CD.

This is the adapter I am using to connect my 27" Thunderbolt Display

to my M1 MacBook Air and is working just fine, including the interface

ports on the Thunderbolt Display.

yes this is the correct adapter that I use. I have not tried my Apple Super Drive connected to the TBD as I always use one of the MBA C ports because I usually do not have the charger connected. What you can do is get a normal tray CD/DVD drive and connect using a hub but not sure if you connect the charger to the hub if it will charge the Mac?

TBH, I use it so seldom that it's not really worth the investment of another drive.

Most import/export is by USB flash drive or file transfer/sharing.

I'm reconciled to unplugging the TB display when I need to write a CD.

Do the ethernet and USB ports on the Thunderbolt Display still function when using this adapter?
