Hello,

Yes it should still work if you have the repair done at an authorized repair center:

Then see:

If Touch ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

In the meantime, consider a virtual Home button:

How to Enable a Virtual Home Button on iPhone or iPad with AssistiveTouch

Use AssistiveTouch on iPhone
