where are the serial numbers on usb-c charge cable (1 meter and 2 meter versions)?
This support article (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201700) indicates that usb-c charge cables have serial numbers stamped onto them and that you can tell if your cable is appropriate for the amount of power that your adapter provides based on the serial numbers. I recently bought two charge cables, a 1 meter and a 2 meter, from an Apple authorized dealer, that came in Apple packaging, and neither have serial numbers. I also checked the cable that came with my 2019 MacBook Pro and it does not have a serial number either.
The reason I ask is because it appears that the 1 meter cable being sold is meant to charge devices from the Mac laptop (i.e. you can charge your iPad Pro by connecting them with the 1 meter usb-c charge cable) and that the 2 meter cable is meant to charge your Mac laptop by connecting the laptop to the power adapter. THUS - you should not try to charge your laptop (in my case a 2019 15" MacBook Pro) using the 1 meter cable through your 87 W adapter.
