Apple pencil Gen 2 charging very slowly

I purchased my apple pencil about a month ago and and now it takes more than a hour or so, to charge completely as compared to before where it only took about 15 minutes.

It is my first apple product along with the Ipad and I don't know what to do. The pencil just started giving me trouble from the last 2 charges, earlier it was fine.

I have updated to the latest software, tried restarting, removed the widget and installed it again and nothing seems to work

Please advise.
