iPhone 7 is frozen and can't be updated
I tried putting my device in recovery mode and doing an update but it says it can't be updated. I don't want to do a restore and lose everything. What do I do?

You might check your iCloud account to see if you had Messages synched there. Otherwise, I'm afraid they are gone. Now it is time to select a back-up strategy. Back-ups must be done before catastrophe strikes. Many of us have learned that the hard way....
Thank you! I had to restore it and because it was frozen, couldn’t back it up. Now trying to figure out if there’s anyway to get back my old text messages. Any ideas?
I know I did before Thanksgiving. Just can’t figure out how to do it. Thanks.
