Family Sharing

I accidentally put one of my children under one Apple ID and my other child under a different Apple ID. I want to move one of them to the one Apple ID so they are both under the same one. I tried following the instructions for moving a child to a new family sharing account, but I don’t get a notification on my other account to allow the child to be moved. Any ideas on how to get this accomplished?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

In the long run it is better to keep them each on their own ID, otherwise it is similar to giving them the same name in life. An Apple ID is an identifier for an individual in the Apple world. You can't split ID contents later so one child will end up with all purchase made, etc.

Why not have both IDs, one for each child, under the Family Sharing plan.

I completely agree with Limnos's first paragraph. Having 2 children on the same ID isn't a good idea.

You aren't moving them to a new family sharing account. Use the article below as a guide of where to sign the child you want to move out of their current ID.

What to do after you change your Apple ID or password - Apple Support.

Then sign them into the desired ID in the places you signed them out.

Sorry, let me clarify. The kids each have their own Apple ID. I have two different Apple IDs and one child is under one of mine and the other is under my other Apple ID. So basically it’s like they’re part of two different families. But I’m trying to invite the one to be a part of the other family and it gives me a notification that they are already a part of a family. The account that I want to move them off of doesn’t give me any notification or invitation to allow them to join the other family.
