Hi,
I have this external hard drive -'Seagate Expansion Desk Media' that is powering up, but not being recognised in disk utility.
I have tried to use first aid, without any luck.
Any suggestions ?

That's usually a pretty terminal condition. There are stronger tools (Diskwarrior as long as you are using an old style HDD and not solid state drive) but whether or not you consider it worth $100 just to see if they can do anything is up to you. Even if they can rescue your files I wouldn't trust the drive afterward.

Thanks - yep, have an HDD and a backup.
I'll have a look at Diskwarrior and then ditch the drive.
