The number no longer has service and was stolen do I submit that number or the number to the mobile device I am using to type right now ?

iPhone 7 had phone service I disconnected it.

to deregister that telephone number on Apple ID manage ID, am I entering that number to then receive a code to a different number which I would be using at the time of deregistering ?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 13

Hi there NewbieAppleWorld,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you have a question about two-factor authentication and we'll be glad to see what we can do to help out.

To double-check, are you saying you no longer have access to your trusted phone number? If so, this resource might be helpful: Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication.

If that doesn't help, let us know more about what's happening. For deregistering, you should only need to do that if you're switching from an iOS device to non-iOS, and this link should help: Deregister iMessage on your iPhone or online

Best wishes.
