AirPods are randomly disconnecting from my phone

My AirPods keep disconnecting from my phone. I’ve had them for a year and for the past week they have been randomly disconnecting from my phone. When I put them back in the case and open it, my phone says they aren’t my AirPods and prompts me to connect them to my phone. I’ve tried a full reset and that worked for about a day. I have a feeling Apple has something to do with this.
