Messages in "Landscape Mode" (iPhone 12 pro) doesn't show contacts on left, conversation on right (split mode) like on iPad/iMac, but DOES on my wife's phone (XR)

Just saw my wife using her iPhone XR (up to date iOS 14) using Messages in landscape mode, where it shows the contacts on the left side of the screen in a scrollable column, and the conversation on the right, like it looks on iPad or iMac in Messages. My iPhone 12 Pro does not do this when I turn it to landscape (sideways), it does re-orientate the screen to landscape, but doesn't change the layout to match hers. How do I get it to do this? My iPhone 12 Pro is up to date with the most recent iOS 14.

Hi SinglecutGuy,

It sounds like you're not seeing contact names to the left of conversations in the Messages app on your iPhone 12 Pro like your wife sees on her iPhone XR. The view you see when rotating your iPhone in different apps can vary depending on the model of iPhone that you have. Since the Messages app rotates to landscape mode on your iPhone, it sounds like the view you're seeing is expected behavior:

Change or lock the screen orientation on iPhone

Cheers.
