If your MBPro 2010 laptop had macOS 10.12.6 or 10.13 installed at some point, then just boot into Internet Recovery Mode using Command + Option + R to access the online macOS 10.13 installer.

Otherwise you need access to another Mac compatible with macOS 10.11 or 10.13 so you can create a bootable macOS USB installer.

If you have the original OSX 10.6.3 install DVDs which shipped with the laptop originally, then you can use that DVD to install Snow Leopard.

It is hard to say whether you have a good USB installer there. I know a lot of third party apps have trouble making a working macOS installer these days. I do know the quality of USB sticks is extremely poor so there is always a possibility that the USB stick itself is the problem. Maybe try using another brand of USB stick (Sandisk has been pretty good for me).

If you have an Ubuntu boot disk, then you can use that to check the health of the hard drive. It would not surprise me if the hard drive is either worn out or even failing. Install and use GSmartControl to access the health report for the hard drive and post the complete report here using the "Additonal Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper. You should be able to just double-click on the laptop's hard drive icon within GSmartControl to access the health report.

Cool, i manage to get a copy of Mac os high sierra bootable drive with clover. Which im not sure what clover does but i got it.

The Steps I Took:

- Plugged in usb drive

- Boot up while holding down option key than selected the USB drive

- in disk utility my the hard drive is labeled Hitachi and i selected the volume underneath it and selected Erase

- I than set the volume name as install High Sierra, since thats what the USB drive is labeled. I chose Extended Journal and selected the partition as GUID

- from there i go back to disk utility and hit install mac os and it failed saying the install is damaged and cant be installed. Per other reader i change the date in terminal to 010101016 for the format 01/01/ 01:01 2016 and tried the install again and received the same failed message.

-i tried to check the start up disk to see if the Hitachi shows up and i only see the USB Drive in disk start up and it still wont install.

Im not sure if i should select the Hitachi drive and try to select the "Restore" tab and select from the USB drive to restore from. I also entered the terminal command prompt for high sierra and it wasnt able to find the

This is what i typed:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\High\ Sierra.app/ Contents/Resources createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/ Install High Sierra --- since the USB drive and my volume is labeled "Install High Sierra" than hit return and it was a no go.

The 2 times it started the install it failed around 90% than the 3rd time it showed the hard drive was locked. Is the anything i need to do with clover or Ubuntu?

The bootable drive was given to me by a friend so im not sure if i should create it myself to assure the steps are taken properly.

I just dont want to admit defeat just yet.
