Update OS High Sierra

Apple store show 2 icons in updates but I cannot access them. I need to update High Sierra 10.13.6 and cannot.

How can I update my OS

iMac 21.5″ 4K, macOS 10.13

Maybe try Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur standalone downloads?

Try the standalone 10.15.6 in Safe Mode, but not using Firefox...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup).

Yes you're right it is supposed to be as easy as that. I open About this Mac and select Software Update, it then opens the Apple store. It shows the icons for 2 updates, however I have a blank page, as per image below. I can browse for Big sur which I'm assuming is the update I need. I hit download, it calculates the the time and then just quits with no error message.

Why can you not update them? What exactly happens? You don't have to go to the Apple store for updates. Upgrades, yes, sometimes. If your computer can accept an update, all you have to do is to open the About This Mac, under the Apple logo, and there will be an option to update there.
