Is 256GB is enough for the basic user?

If you plan to use it for internet use and text documents (e.g., Word & Excel or Apple Pages & Numbers), it would be hard to exceed 256 GB. But start adding a lot of photos and music, or especially videos, then the numbers can go up rapidly.


I have around 1,000 photos, 20+ years of Quicken financial information, 20+ years of bank statements, utility bills, investment records, income tax returns, pdf copies of receipts for purchases that might be covered by a warranty, and all kinds of other miscellaneous information and my total storage usage, including the operating system and programs, is about 50GB. Again, many people would have way more especially with videos.
