1080i not available

Hi, i have a MacBook Pro MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) and the format 1080i is not available when an extern monitor is plugged in.

I can only see 1080p available as format.

when HDMI was connected to an older MacBook Pro, then it was available??

What can be the problem?

thank you.

In 1080i i stands for Interlaced. That means every other time the screen is painted, the even lines only (or the odd lines onl)y will be sent. It is a cheat for displays/interfaces that can not do the whole screen in one pass.

In 1080p the p stands for Progressive (not interlaced) scan. This means when the screen is drawn it will progressively draw each and every scan line every time the screen is painted.

If your Mac can do 1080p, that is superior, and there is no need for 1080i.
