i need to update my apple watch in order to pair it to my phone but every time i try to update it is says it can’t because it’s not connected to the internet what should i do?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It appears that you're having some trouble pairing your Apple Watch. Are you using a VPN or any other security software on your Apple Watch? If so, please disable it and attempt to pair your devices again.
If this doesn't apply to you, let's be sure that your iPhone is running the latest software update in Settings > General > About. You can also delete and reinstall the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 12, iOS 13, or iPadOS device or Apple Watch
