Cannot access ipod. Gave my daughter a password or ID and cannot recall it. What can be done to unlock the ipod?

ipod disabled....round and round. How do I get the ipod back without the password? I set up the ipod for my daughter and gave her an apple id of her choice, she does not remember it. I factory reset the ipod but still it asks for the original icloud password assigned to the ipod? That's what we cannot recall. Completely stuck. Please help.
