Desktop not visible in Big Sur

Hi.

Ever since I updated to Big Sur, my desktop is not working.

It is present in icloud, and I can locate it through finder, but all the icons disappeared from my desktop. I can not even drag and drop files into desktop unless I use finder to locate desktop folder specifically. What should I do to get my desktop back? :(

by default iCloud Drive got turned on— look for your files there.

iCloud drive missing desktop and documents

Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple ...

Set up iCloud Drive - Apple Support

How to find your Documents and Desktop folder contents after ...

Finder>Go>Go to Folder>copy & paste:

~/iCloud Drive (Archive)

iCLoud Drive (Archive) - here you should find all your files

If your still have the files in finder and you Cannot right click on your desktop the fix is easy. Open terminal and write this in

$ defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop -bool true $ killall Finder

then press enter

the problem may be that the desktop isn’t actually there and therefore is not linked to finder.

let me know if this helps🙂
