I live in the Pacific Northwest. Lately when I turn on my desktop it switches my location and time zone to Pleasantville, N.Y. My date and time preferences are locked so I cannot understand why this is happening. I have to unlock them and manually reset my time zone. Anyone else have this problem?

Comcast is my ISP and it is using an external IP address for me that is located in Chicago, about 240 miles from where I connect to Comcast locally.
Do you have Location Services configured in System Preferences : Security & Privacy panel's Privacy pane to Enable Location Services? If you scroll down in that list of Location services, you will encounter System Services with a Details… button. With the Enable Location Services selected, click on that System Services Details… button. Mine looks like this:

Probably other locations where your ISP has service locations.
Am guessing but is the machine Running behind a VPN on the East Coast USA.
Nope. No VPN and no connection to the East Coast. It has happened two mornings in a row after I boot up. And what I can't understand is why it's happening in locked date and time preferences.
Fuethermore, I don't understand how my query wound up in Notebooks. I thought I was in OS Catalina.

Sorry. My query is in Catalina. What I meant to say was that this thread lists my "specialty" as Notebooks when I don't even own a Notebook.
No issue, it may have picked up a former laptop ? associated with your Apple ID
Good one @ VikingOSX - my IP lists my location 100 KM from actual location.
Thanks for the tip. It shows my location correctly but in "details" it lists a host of locations including some in New Jersey.
Thanks Viking. In my System Services I found Significant Locations listing not only my home but also an address in New Jersey. I got rid of it and hopefully that will solve the date and time problem.
