Alpine iLX-w650 CarPlay car audio low

Using an iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. Apple Music and all apps work great on CarPlay but voice calling audio is too low and unusable. Changed all settings on the unit (eg increased call volume and all that) but no dice. Any ideas?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

I played around for hours to figure this out. When the message is reading or Siri is active adjust the volume using the + and - on the ilx-w650. This will adjust the Siri volume separately from radio/music and it holds that setting.

I have the exact same issue using an iPhone 12 and an Alpine iLX-650E (the E being the Australian model). My previous iPhone 7 worked perfectly. I have tested other iPhone 12 and the iPhone SE (2nd gen) and they have the same issue on the Alpine only. They work well on my other car's Pioneer. So it is defenitly and Alpine iLx-650.../new Iphone issue. Alpine released a firmware update for my model to address this exact issue - but guess what. It didn't resolve the issue at all. There was no difference after installing the update.

If you're using a PAC RP4-CH11 and have an amplifier, the instructions state:

"Vehicles with a factory amplifier: The factory amplifier only accepts two

channels of audio input (left and right). Connect the front outputs of the aftermarket radio to the rear inputs of the vehicle connector. This

will allow navigation voice prompts and Bluetooth calls to be heard."

I connected this system in my wife's Jeep a few days ago and have been searching the internet for answers regarding the call volume (it's so low, I think I imagine it). Hopefully, tonight I can make some changes and get it to work.

I have the ilx-w650 and have the same issue. Called Crutchfield support and they had no solution. My unit is out of warranty by like a week so no help their. I am using it will iphone 11. Funny when I make outbound calls the audio is extremely low but in bound calls seem ok. If I raise the volume up on the inbound calls the next time I get a call it blows you away. I have update to the latest 1.016 or 1.16 firmware that was released in Nov of 2020. No change.

I called Crutchfield and Alpine this evening and told them about a similar problem I’m having. This might be what you are describing, but through Bluetooth or USB the ringing volume is fine, I can hear the caller fine, but I’m very quiet. I believe sometimes Siri has trouble hearing me also. I placed several test calls to myself adjusting the mic volume in the head unit but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

I also have an Alpine ILX650. I was using a Samsung Galaxy S7 before upgrading to an IPhone12 Pro. I haven’t moved the mic or changed the install in my vehicle at all except for the usb cable.

If you have a solution please let me know, I can’t make or receive calls currently through CarPlay because I can barely be heard even with the vehicle in park.

I updated the firmware to the most recent update. My issue is my carplay music sound quality. My system sounds awesome via bluetooth but when I connect it to the usb cable the sound quality diminishes. I have no solutions the update did not fix the issue. I will try a different cable when I buy one. Ill let you know if that fixes the issue
