Why does the Drafts Folder in Apple mail get so big? I was able to move over 800,000 files to Trash and free up 35G of space, but I'm wondering if there is a setting that I need to change to prevent future issues.

Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Your Account>Mailbox Behaviors, what path is Drafts Mailbox set to?
Setting it to an On My Mac Drafts box generally cures it.
Try setting to an On My Mac Box.

I suspect you aren't actually saving that many Drafts or have that many eMails not sending, so I suspect some rule or path setting is messing you up.
