Macbook crashes when disconnecting from LG monitor

Hi,

I have a re-occurring issue with my MacBook and external LG Ultrafine monitor. Quite often, when I connect my MacBook to the monitor, I get a picture but the MacBook will not allow me to put audio through the monitor or use the built-in monitor video camera (neither show up in System preferences or any of the apps I use such as Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, etc). At this point, if I disconnect the monitor, the fan in the MacBook will fire up and then the laptop crashes and requires a reboot.

The display is connected to the laptop via a USB-C cable.

I know this is quite a specific issue, but interested if others have had similar experiences?
