Question

iPhone X photo edits won't save permanently

Basically, I can edit photos no problem, but when I go to send them via text, email, or even in apps like GroupMe or to post on things like Insta, the original version shows up without an option for the edited version. I don’t use iCloud for photos so all photos are kept locally in my phone. This issue started with the updates last year and just have seemed to peak lately with the recent holiday season. Is there a way to fix this or am I doomed to have to use photoshop? Any help is greatly appreciated!

After you edit a photo, if you preview the image again before sharing it, do you see your saved edits?

Hello,

Yes, I am using the Photos app built in with the iPhone to edit the photos. After I edit the photo in Photos, the image will appear edited (and will also have the option to revert to original, which I do not press or interact with in any way). However, when I go to text the photo (via Messages app built in with the iPhone) or send it through a messaging app (e.g. Facebook Messenger), it will show up as the original photo despite showing up as the edited version in the preview before I select the photo.

I reviewed the article, but did not find any of the information relevant to fixing my issue.

After you're done editing your photo, before sharing, are you tapping "Done" in the bottom right corner in yellow?

Without clicking "Done", your edits will not save.
